Curb Excesses of Fulani Herdsmen, Abia Tells FG

Emmanuel Ugwu, Umuahia

The federal government was on Monday urged to curb the excesses of Fulani herdsmen, tame inflation and take urgent steps to fix all the federal roads in Abia State in order to give the people a new lease of life.

These demands were made by stakeholders at a town hall meeting the federal government had with the people of Abia State at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia during which the “Change Begins With Me“ programme was launched in the state by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Mohammed led his counterparts in Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige; Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh; and Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelama, as well as the Minister of State for Solid Minerals, Alhaji Abubakar Bwari, to explain the policies and programmes of the Muhammadu Buhari administration to the people.

The minister of information made it clear that the menace of the herdsmen was a security issue which the federal government was doing its best to tackle, adding that it was unthinkable for anyone to imagine that the murderous activities of the herdsmen were state sponsored or supported.
