The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), yesterday said Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar will experience 30 percent solar eclipse with the lowest percent occurring in Kebbi State.
This was contained in statement signed by the Head Media and Corporate of NASRDA), Dr Felix Ale, said the partial solar eclipse will be visible all over the country with different degree of totality.
He however said the highest degree of obscurity in the country during the natural occurrence will be observed in the Southern part of the country in Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar, where it is expected to have about thirty three percent obscurity.
According to him, the lowest degree of obscurity will be about nine percent in the Northern part of the country particularly in Kebbi State.
The statement further read: “In the South west, the level of obscurity will be about twenty three percent at about 5.42 and 6.30pm, South east will record 28 to 30 percent between 4.45 and 6.33pm while the level of obscurity in Abuja, the federal capital city will be about twenty percent between 4.54 and 6.30pm.
“The partial solar eclipse will be observed across the nation, therebymaking each part of the country a great site for viewing the eclipse at different degree of obscurity as the solar disc will be covered by the moon as seen from the earth and the eclipse will be visible in as much there is a clear sky without rain or cloud.”
Ale explained that, there is no cause for alarm or reason to panic as solar eclipse is a natural occurrence and should be seen as part of the beauties of nature.
