De-Image to Empower Youths on Graduation

One of the fashion institutes in Lagos, De-image Creation and Fashion School has announced plans to empower no fewer than 200 youths at its third graduation ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion which held in Lagos, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the institute, Mrs. Temilola Akintayo noted that the decision to invest in youths arose from the economic situation in  the country and more importantly, to contribute its quota to supporting the government to reduce unemployment.

The CEO who stressed that the challenge of unemployment in the country could not be managed by government alone explained that as part of  programmes to drive the empowerment  course, the institute would be engaging over 200 youths in a free fashion training session while on completion of the course, would also equip them with a free sewing machine and other relevant tools to get to work immediately.

She noted that a lot of talent in the fashion industry had wasted away as a result of lack of set up fund and assured the institute was committed to getting talent engaged which was why “We will go as far as establishing the students   as soon as they complete their training exercise so they also can become financially independent and become employers of labour”.

She solicited partnership and support from corporate entities   for its course so as to reach out to as many youths as possible and expand the vision of the initiative.

In addition, Akintayo pleaded with government to roll out policies that would boost the indigenous textile industry as she decried Nigerians’ preference for foreign fabrics.

One of the graduands, Omowunmi Oshiberu expressed fulfilment in her new status and encouraged youths to embrace self-development.

The event was well attended by dignitaries in the society including politicians and captains of industry. Some of the highlights of the event included: a runway walk, display  of graduands creative work  career talks as well as  the launch   the institute’s  hand out
