All-New Jeep Compass Debuts Looking Like a Meaner Renegade

The new Jeep Compass has been introduced in celebration of the start of production at FCA’s Brazilian Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco.

Heading to market as a global compact SUV, the Jeep Compass will be produced with 17 fuel-efficient powertrain options when it’s sold in more than 100 different countries in the world. Although the American automaker didn’t release complete details about the new Compass, it promises that it will deliver best-in-class 4×4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom and a host of safety and advanced technology offerings.

The new SUV will replace both the existing Compass and Patriot models, slotting between the Renegade and Cherokee. Under the hood, expect to see either a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder mill, both paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

It will also head to North America starting the first quarter of 2017 and it will make its first public debut at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show in November. Expect more details to be released then.
