The federal government has announced the appointment of Dr. Ezekiel Oseni as the Acting Managing Director for the National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND).
Until his appointment, Oseni was a General Manager and Chief Risk Officer of the Bank of Industry (BOI).
His appointment, which was made under a management agreement between the federal government and the Bank of Industry, is with immediate effect.
According to a statement signed by the Permaneet Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Dr. Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, the new NERFUND helmsman has, among other mandates, to reposition the agency and to ensure that all outstanding debts are recovered.
The federal government had recently shut down the operations of NERFUND and later reopened it following the crises that crippled the agency for three weeks.
The government said it took the decision following some developments in the organisation and failure to reconcile the differences between the executive management and the entire staff, inspite of the Finance Ministry’s intervention.
The ministry had subsequently set up a committee to investigate the allegations of corruption leveled against the interim management of the agency
