Ebonyi state Police Command on Wednesday arraigned the Coordinator of Ohaozara West Development Centre, Ogbonnaya Ene Odii and his two brothers, Enekwachi and Martin, at the Magistrate Court in Ohaozara Magisterial District in the state for allegedly stripping naked and beating a 15-year old orphan, Uzoamaka Chukwu.
Also arraigned were three Police Officers who were allegedly involved in the crime. They are Paulinus Nwadonwe, Monday Nweke and Irondi Obinna. The trio Officers were said to have been dismissed by the Police Force.
The six suspects were arraigned on a 10-count charge of indecent assault of a female, abduction, deprivation of liberty and publication of defamatory matters; forcing her to lie on broken bottles and hitting her with cables and electric wires.
The suspects were also alleged to have recorded the video clip of Uzoamaka’s nudity and sent it to the social media with the false claim that she was caught making love in her father’s house with a man, a publication that injured her reputation, exposed her to hatred, contempt and ridicule.
The charge reads “That you Ene Odii Ogbonnaya ‘m’, Ene Odii Enekwachi ‘m’, Ene Martin ‘m’, Paulinus Nwadonwe ‘m’, Monday Nweke ‘m’, Irondi Obinna ‘m’ and others at large on the 13th day of July, 2016, place and at Obiozara in the Ohaozara Magisterial District did unlawfully wound one Uzoamaka Favour Chukwu ‘f’ by forcing her to lie on broken
bottles and hitting her with cables and electric wires and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 338 (a) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 33, Vol.1, Laws of Ebonyi state, 2009”
“That you Ene Odii Ogbonnaya ‘m’, Ene Odii Enekwachi ‘m’, Ene Martin ‘m’, Paulinus Nwadonwe ‘m’, Monday Nweke ‘m’, Irondi Obinna ‘m’ and others at large on the 13th day of July, 2016, place and at Obiozara in the Ohaozara Magisterial District did unlawfully and indecently assaulted one Uzoamaka Favour Chukwu ‘f’ by stripping her and beaten her while naked and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 360 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 33, Vol.1, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2009”.
