PDP Primary: Ondo Stands Still for Ex-Attorney General

Ondo City, the second largest town in Ondo State, stood still on Wednesday as residents of the city expressed support for the aspiration of former Ondo State Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] ahead of the November gubernatorial election.

Jegede and Mr Saka Lawal were the two persons that had picked nomination forms for the PDP primaries under the Ibrahim Makarfi-led faction of the party.

The primary is scheduled for August 22, 2016 while they had been cleared by the party’s screening committee.

The endorsement of Jegede by people of Ondo East and Ondo West Federal Constituency came after the residents of Ilaje|Ese Odo Federal Constituency, Okitipupa|Irele Federal constituency and Odigbo|Ile Oluji Federal among others had expressed support for the former Commissioner for Justice.

The mammoth crowd of PDP supporters, who held the city to a standstill, gathered from as early as 11:00am till about 1.15pm when Jegede”s train arrived from Odigbo local government area.

The convoy of the former commissioner that arrived at Idishin roundabout was received by the Eyitayo Mobilisation team and party leaders led by Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s Special Adviser on Political mobilisation, Akin Akinbobola who led a rally down to the PDP Secretariat Ondo West Local Government with Jegede acknowledging cheers from the people.
