The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) party defied police sealing of the Sharks Stadium venue its national convention to hold the convention at the Rivers State secretariat of the party.
As the delegates converged on their secretariat along Aba Road, Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, declared the convention open.
After a brief deliberation, the convention extended the life of the national caretaker committee by one year.
