22 Years Old Nigerian Unveils Online Retail Mall

With the increasing use of internet and with almost twenty million Nigerians having transactions done on the web, a new company wants to take leverage of that and set up an ecommerce website.

Chimmie Ijezie, a 22 years old Engineering graduate is set to launch Shopity, a new online retail store for fashion products and accessories, August 12, 2016. According to Ijezie, Shopity offers a unique experience to customers, providing quality products ranging from men’s wear, women’s wear, shoes, bags beauty products and accessories. Their aim is to replace the hassle of traditional shopping, providing consumers with the opportunity to acquire exactly the cloth or accessories they need and when they need it.

Speaking on the upcoming start-up shopping site, Ijezie said: “We have built a solution, which though far from perfect provides a great user experience for Nigerian shoppers to shop through amazing collection of fashion products at affordable rates and unique quality. Our goal is to allow Nigerians purchase amazing fashion wears and accessories at affordable rates and premium quality. Our partnership with major fashion vendors and local fashion designers has made this possible. Also customers do not need to worry about size of their suit or traditional wears as we have introduced bespoke category on our mall, which allows customers to make their order and have it customized and tailored to fit them at affordable rates. This is the first time in Nigeria one would be able to shop bespoke and have a cloth tailored to his size and preference. We are happy to be pacesetters. We will be investing over the next couple of years to take this to the next level and also introduce more fashion categories like electronics and gadgets, groceries and lots more.”

He noted that the recent growth of e-commerce in Nigeria has created the need for consumers to have access to local products as this not only makes it affordable for them but also helps to promote the Naira currency.

The online shopping services comes at a time when Nigerians appear to be embracing the culture buying products online especially with the advent of big online stores like Jumia, Konga and PayPorte as well as with the Federal Government’s push for a cashless society. These economic factors combine to make Shopity.com.ng a veritable tool for internet savvy consumers.
