Kidnapping: Mob Attacks Oba’s Palace in Iwo

A mob attacked the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi on Monday to register  their anger over the rescue of a suspected kidnapper despite the incessant cases of missing children in the town in recent time.

THISDAY learnt that the suspected female kidnapper was apprehended by the people  when she lured a child to a corner and attempted to kidnap the child.

 An eyewitness said a huge crowd gathered and insisted that the suspect must be killed.
The kidnapper was however  rescued by some people who took her to the palace of Oluwo to save her life.

Consequently, the mob  descended on the palace and attempted to set it ablaze.

It was gathered that the monarch informed the Commissioner of Police, Mr Femi Oyeleye, to report the matter.

 The traditional ruler was said to have informed the CP that he was not safe and this prompted the police chief to move to Iwo from Osogbo immediatetly.

Speaking on  the incident, the Police image-maker  for Osun State Police Command, Ajibade Egbedele, who went to Iwo along with the CP, said minimum force was used to disperse the mob.
