New Kwara CP Warns Policemen against Extra-judicial Killings

The new commissioner of police in Kwara state, Mr. Olusola Amore, at the weekend‎ declared that the era of illegal killings of innocent Nigerians by policemen mounting road blocks, popularly known as kill-and-go, is no longer acceptable in the force.

He said that henceforth, any member of the police force found to‎ have been involved in the act would be summarily made to face the law of the land.

Amore stated this in Ilorin while addressing men and officers of the state police command shortly after the former commissioner for police, Mr. Sam Okaula, handed the reigns of power over to him at the state police command officers’ mess, Ilorin.

‎According to him, “If you kill, you will be called upon to give account of your action henceforth.

“No men of the state police command should mount any roads blocks again and anyone caught will be made to face the full wrath of the law”.

He also said that community policing remains the main agenda of his administration.

This, he said, would go a long way of involving members of the public in the determination to tackle the challenges associated with criminal activities in the state.

Amore, who said that his telephone numbers would be made available to the people of the state, added that the divisional police officers and Area Commanders should also display their telephone numbers on the walls of their various offices in the state so as to allow the members of their communities have access to their telephone lines.
