The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), a not-for-profit-making interdenominational Christian organization is shopping for N480 million to enable it translate the Holy Bible into 12 Nigerian languages.

The society said it donated assorted Bibles worth N13.8 million to the less privileged, prisoners and people with visual impairment last year.

A statement signed by its National President and National Secretary, Dr. Aaron Nuhu and Mr. Richard Dare Ajiboye, said the society has completed the translation of the Bible into 24 Nigerian languages.

The national president said: “At the moment translation/revision is going on in over 12 Nigerian languages, adding that it costs a minimum of N40 million to complete a Bible translation project.”

While calling on churches and the public to support the project with their prayers, Nuhu said: “Pray for our work and if you desire to support the project send cheque should be addressed directly to the Bible Society of Nigeria.

“Through such donations we are able to subsidize the cost of the Bible and give free copies to those who cannot afford to buy.”
