The Police in Bayelsa State on Thursday wrote the state Governor, Mr Seriake Dickson, warning of the security consequences of the refusal of the State House of Assembly to swear in three opposition members-elect.

The command noted that the action or inaction of the Peoples Democratic Party-led Assembly to inaugurate the three members even after they were given Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission could lead to a possible breach of state security.

The letter with reference number, AB:0900/BYS/Vol.4/43 and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Peter Ogunyanwo, warned of the consequences of the ongoing crisis, noting that a protest by the aggrieved members-elect might lead to a breakdown of law and order.

The letter, made available to journalists in Yenagoa on Thursday, said the warning was as a result of the request by the three aggrieved Assembly members-elect and their constituents to the police.
