The Nigerian Association for the Blind (NAB) has applauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon.Yakubu Dogara, for sponsoring free medical treatment of over 20,000 persons in Bauchi state, including patients of eye diseases.
Chairman of the Bauchi State Chapter of the association, Malam Haruna Pali, made this commendation on on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen on the two weeks’ free medical services offered by the speaker to the people in the state.
He noted that the medical exercise, which included cataract surgery for about 500 patients, was unprecedented, and urged other politicians to emulate the humanitarian gestures embarked upon by the speaker.
“This programme sponsored by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dogara Yakubu, through an organisation known as Doctors on the moveAfrica is highly commendable because Cataract is one of the problems we are facing in the state, which we have never received any gesture like this before”, he said
