NNPP Flags Off Kwara Governorship Campaign in Asa

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has flagged off its governorship campaign in Kwara State with a pledge to prioritise rural development, infrastructure and access to essential social services.

The campaign was launched in Laduba, Asa Local Government Area, the hometown of the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Hajia Zururat Romoke Zubair. The event was attended by the party’s National Chairman, Dr Agbo Major, party leaders, supporters and residents.

Addressing the gathering, the governorship candidate, Prince Adetoyese Omokanye, said his decision to begin the campaign in a rural community reflected his intention to make grassroots development a priority.

He pledged that, if elected, his administration would rehabilitate rural roads, improve access to potable water and strengthen public education and healthcare services.

Omokanye also promised to improve the welfare of academic staff, expand opportunities for youths and women, support small and medium-scale businesses and ensure that rural communities benefit from government programmes.

On security, the candidate expressed concern about the security situation in the state and said protecting lives and property would be a priority of his proposed administration.

After the flag-off, the campaign team visited Afon and Alapa, also in Asa Local Government Area, where it held engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and women’s groups.

The meetings provided an opportunity for community representatives to raise concerns about roads, water supply, education, healthcare, access to business funding and other development needs.

The party said the engagements formed part of its commitment to grassroots participation and inclusive governance.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the party’s flag to Omokanye by Major, marking the formal commencement of the NNPP’s governorship campaign in the state.

Major described the candidate as an asset to the party and expressed confidence in his ability to lead Kwara State.
