Kwara Rebuilders Accuses PDP Guber Candidate, Kawu, of Plot to Restore Saraki Dynasty

A sociopolitical group, Kwara Rebuilders has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Kale Kawu, of prioritising the restoration of the political dynasty of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over the interests of the people.

The group described Kawu’s alleged political commitment to Saraki as “ungodly and dead on arrival,” insisting that his ambition to govern the state was driven by a desire to revive the dynasty rather than serve the electorate.

In a statement issued yesterday by its Kwara Central Media Officer, AbdulQuadri AbdulKabeer, the group criticised Kawu and his media team for responding to earlier criticisms with grammatical explanations instead of addressing what it described as substantive questions about his political intentions and governance agenda.

Kwara Rebuilders said the response was an attempt to divert attention from concerns about Kawu’s alleged political loyalty to Saraki and accusations that he had copied and recycled previous manifestos.

“We consider the response of Kawu and his team as a mere academic exercise that does not treat the substantial issues,” the group said.

It maintained that Kawu had previously made his intentions clear in a video message, which it claimed showed that his governorship ambition was tied to restoring the Saraki political dynasty.

“His covenant is to Saraki, not the people of Kwara State. Kawu didn’t mince words in his earlier video message that his only motive for governorship is to restore and revive the Saraki dynasty, a dynasty where Kwara was ruled through proxy, with high-handedness and anyhowness being the order of the day,” the statement added.

The group also dismissed Kawu’s planned unveiling of a manifesto titled Covenant with Kwarans, describing it as an afterthought that would not convince voters.
It argued that the PDP candidate’s alleged commitment to Saraki contradicted the idea of a people-oriented political manifesto.

“The guber agenda is built on an undemocratic covenant with Saraki that he cannot deny,” it said.

Kwara Rebuilders further alleged that Kawu had pledged to restore the political dynasty and potentially use the state’s resources to advance Saraki’s reported 2031 presidential ambition.

It challenged the candidate to explain how such an alleged commitment could be reconciled with his proposed covenant with the people of Kwara.

“The point remains that Kawu’s narratives are inconsistent and conflicting. He has been caught on tape literally genuflecting while making good of his covenant to his leader, Senator Bukola Saraki, that his mission is to restore the dynasty and surrender the state’s purse to pursue his 2031 presidential ambition. Where on earth does covenant to a dynasty equal to covenant to Kwarans?” the group queried.

The organisation also drew parallels with previous political arrangements in the state, alleging that politicians who made similar commitments had eventually prioritised their political godfathers over the electorate.

It cited former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed as an example, arguing that political promises and covenants had not always translated into accountability to the people.

The group urged voters to scrutinise Kawu’s political intentions, warning against entrusting the state’s leadership to a candidate it described as sycophantic.

It further claimed that Kwarans had rejected the Saraki political dynasty in two consecutive electoral cycles because of its alleged governance failures.

“Kwarans rejected the dynasty in two consecutive electoral cycles for its many failings and disasters. They are not ready to go back to their vomit, which is exactly what Kale Kawu is promising,” the statement said.
