Jeroid Appoints Olamide as Brand Ambassador
Nigerian digital asset platform Jeroid has appointed Afrobeats artist Olamide as a brand ambassador, linking a long-standing music figure with a company that has operated in the sector for more than nine years.
Olamide, whose career has spanned music, artist development and entrepreneurship, said the decision rested on more than visibility. “I am very particular about innovation and uniqueness,” he stated when describing the criteria he applies to collaborations. He also noted that “crypto is here to stay,” framing digital assets as a lasting feature of the financial landscape rather than a temporary trend.
Jeroid was founded in 2017 by Jeremiah Mayowa and initially operated as an over-the-counter digital asset and gift-card trading service conducted largely through WhatsApp. The company later launched a mobile application in 2021 and released an upgraded version in 2023. Its services have expanded to include digital asset trading, gift-card exchange and utility payments. In 2024 the firm obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification and was recertified the following year.
By its ninth anniversary in 2026, Jeroid reported cumulative transaction volume exceeding US$1 billion, a user base of more than 500,000 and over one million monthly transactions. These figures, issued by the company, indicate the scale of activity it has built since its early days.
The appointment forms part of Jeroid’s effort to reach audiences beyond existing users of digital finance products. Platforms in the sector frequently compete on speed, rates and convenience; longevity and operational history are among the factors some prospective users weigh when assessing risk. Olamide’s public profile, particularly among younger Nigerians connected to street and popular culture, is expected to increase the visibility of those conversations.
Mayowa has previously described the company’s direction in terms of building durable infrastructure rather than pursuing short-term market presence. The addition of Olamide supplies a prominent external voice to that positioning, while the platform’s continuing performance on transaction reliability, customer support and product development will remain the primary measure of whether broader awareness converts into sustained use.
Celebrity partnerships can expand reach, yet wider adoption of digital assets also depends on clear information about risks, consistent service and user confidence in the platforms that facilitate transactions. Jeroid’s nine-year record and the cultural reach of its new ambassador place those elements in closer proximity. The practical outcome will depend on how effectively increased public attention is matched by the day-to-day experience users encounter on the platform.
