Director General/Chief Executive, National Pension Commission (PenCom), Ms Omolola Oloworaran, urged pension industry stakeholders to strengthen institutional capacity, deepen regulatory compliance and sustain collaboration to ensure that reforms translate into better retirement outcomes for Nigerian workers.

She made the call at the commission’s conference and award dinner held over the weekend in Abuja.

Oloworaran stressed the need for stakeholders to build on the progress recorded in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) through sustained commitment and collective responsibility.

She said the gathering provided an opportunity to recognise outstanding contributions to the development of the industry while reinforcing the shared responsibility of regulators, operators and other stakeholders to improve the system.

She encouraged industry participants to sustain their engagement with the commission and make use of its official communication channels for updates and resources relevant to the sector.

Oloworaran said, “Today, we are having an important conversation about how we can ensure that the organisation continues to fulfil its mandate and achieve its objectives.

“I would like to thank everybody again for being part of this occasion and for joining us throughout the activities leading up to tonight.

“Our main event tonight is to recognise and reward those who have distinguished themselves through their contributions.

We will be presenting awards to individuals and organisations that have performed exceptionally well.”

She said, “There will also be special recognitions for individuals who have made significant contributions. It is a night of celebration and recognition.

“However, we must understand that receiving an award is not the end of the journey. Rather, it should encourage us to do more.

“For everyone who has made an effort to promote cooperation, professionalism and respect for the institution, we appreciate your contributions.”

Earlier, PenCom Director, ICT, Mr. Michael Popoola, also acknowledged the contributions of stakeholders and partners to the development of the pension industry, emphasising the importance of continued cooperation in advancing the commission’s objectives.

He said the collective effort of industry participants remained critical to building a pension system capable of serving workers and retirees more effectively.

He said, “We are celebrating another year of the organisation’s contributions to public administration and reform in Nigeria. We are honoured by the presence of our distinguished guests.”
