ONGA Celebrates Nigeria’s Culinary Diversity Through Three-Day World Food Day Activation

Promasidor Nigeria’s seasoning brand, ONGA, has concluded a three-day World Food Day activation in Lagos, celebrating the country’s regional food cultures and reinforcing its ‘Taste of Home’ platform through consumer engagement, food discovery and rewards.

The activation, themed ‘Cook Your Way With ONGA’, ran from October 16 to 18, 2026, at Jendol Ikorodu, Akasolori, on Friday; Ikeja City Mall on Saturday; and Jendol Ibeju-Lekki on Sunday. It invited shoppers to explore regional dishes, sample local favourites and take part in interactive activities designed to celebrate the different ways Nigerians prepare and enjoy food.

The campaign builds on ONGA’s ‘Taste of Home’ platform, which recognises the role food plays in the moments people share with family and friends. In this context, home is not limited to nostalgia or a particular traditional recipe; it also reflects the food experiences and everyday moments that give people a sense of connection and comfort. ‘Cook Your Way With ONGA’ celebrates how consumers cook, not just what they cook, and highlights ONGA’s improved Chicken and Beef seasoning cubes as part of the brand’s commitment to adding great taste and aroma to meals of choice.

At the activation, shoppers discovered the food cultures of Nigeria’s six regions – Native Rice of the South-South region, Suya & Masa of the North-West region, Abacha of the South-East region, Dan Wake of the North-East region, Ofada & Ayamase of the South-West region, and Jollof rice of the North-Central region. The experience included a regional food map, food sampling, the ‘Cook Your Way with Onga’ ingredient-matching game, consumer food stories and cooking challenges. Participants also had opportunities to win rewards through the interactive activities.

Olawande Meyungbo, Media and Equity Manager at Promasidor Nigeria, said ONGA was proud to celebrate consumers and the different ways they prepare and enjoy their favourite meals. He explained that the campaign was designed to reward consumers for cooking their way with ONGA and to reinforce the brand’s identity as the taste of home, as it keeps reinforcing its positioning as the culinary partner that transforms mealtimes into special moments.

Omotayo Olaobaju, Category Manager, Culinary at Promasidor Nigeria, said the World Food Day initiative was an opportunity to celebrate consumers while bringing the diversity of Nigerian cooking traditions to life. She noted that the digital challenge extends the campaign beyond the physical activation locations.

The celebration continues online, where consumers can take part in the Cook Your Way with Onga digital challenge for a chance to win prizes including a kitchen makeover, an iPhone 18 Pro, a fridge and other rewards by sharing their unique ways of cooking their favourite meals on www.ongatasteofhome.com. Consumers can follow ONGA Nigeria on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok for campaign updates and details on how to enter.

Through ‘Cook Your Way With ONGA’, the brand continues to use food as a point of connection, celebrating Nigeria’s culinary diversity while bringing its ‘Taste of Home’ platform closer to consumers and their everyday cooking experiences.
