TEDxKings Square Women to Make Its Debut in Benin City with “UNSCRIPTED”

History will be made on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as women and allies from leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and the arts
gather for a day of ideas worth spreading.

Kada Cinemas, Benin City, is the first TEDxWomen event in Southern Nigeria.

Under the theme UNSCRIPTED,” the event is expected to ask what becomes possible when people stop following the scripts already written for them.

Across talks on Web3, entrepreneurship, logistics, parenting and community leadership, speakers will share how they built paths that did not exist before them.

“There is no single script for what we can become or how we create,” said Jean Omefe, Organiser and Licensee of TEDxKings Square Women.

“We want to bring people into a room where they encounter ideas that challenge them and conversations that lead somewhere.”

The inaugural event will feature a curated programme of talks and conversations from women and thought leaders working across different fields, alongside opportunities for meaningful connection and engagement.

The 2026 speaker lineup includes Isimeme Whyte, Founder of Genius Hub; Jane Uwagboe, Founder of Locoomo; Karen Tres-Omokaro, author and youth advocate; Bernice Ominuu, Founder of Women in Blockchain Africa (WiBA); and Glory Oguegbu, Founder of RETTI.

Beyond the stage, attendees will experience live performances and connect with others working across sectors they might not otherwise meet.

The organisers built the event as a platform rather than a one-day programme, with the aim that the conversations sparked at UNSCRIPTED continue as collaborations, opportunities and initiatives among speakers, attendees and the wider community.
