Taraba Women Mobilise 5,000 Households for Tinubu, Shettima, Kefas

Women in Taraba State have mobilised about 5,000 households as part of grassroots efforts to build support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Agbu Kefas ahead of the 2027 elections.

The mobilisation exercise, held on Saturday, September 19, was supported by the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, in collaboration with the Remi Tinubu Support Organisations (RETSO).

Participants expressed support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and commended Edu’s appointment as Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

They described Edu as a grassroots-oriented leader and said her appointment could strengthen the participation of women in the 2027 electoral process.

The Taraba State Executive of RETSO, led by its Women Leader, Hajia Rasheedat Ibrahim, pledged to work with Edu and other stakeholders in the mobilisation effort.

The National Coordinator of RETSO, Hon Yusi Buba, also coordinated door-to-door and community-to-community engagements during the exercise.

The participants also commended First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for programmes and initiatives targeted at women, widows, children and young people, particularly in the areas of social protection, empowerment and human capital development.

The women’s wing of RETSO subsequently presented Edu with an Award of Excellence, citing her contribution to women mobilisation during the 2023 presidential election and her service as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Buba said RETSO would continue to work with Edu and other stakeholders to mobilise support for Tinubu and Shettima at the federal level and Kefas at the state level ahead of the 2027 elections.

The delegation also visited the APC secretariat in Jalingo, where it was received by party officials, including the Deputy Youth Leader, Comrade Idris Ayuba, before meeting the Taraba State Commissioner for Information.

The team subsequently visited rural communities as part of the grassroots outreach, engaging residents directly.

The organisers said the mobilisation would continue across wards and communities through what they described as a “house-to-house, room-to-room and parlour-to-parlour” approach.

They said the campaign would focus on communicating the achievements, programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration, particularly to women, as the 2027 elections approach.
