Speed Darlington to Take on Carter Efe in Celebrity Boxing October 1 Edition

After his first loss to fellow controversial act, Portable, in a celebrity boxing show that further sparked popularity of the event, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, is set to take on content creator, Carter Efe come October 1, 2026.

This was confirmed at a well-publicised pre-event conference on Thursday September 10, 2026. 

The contest will be the first boxing match between Efe and Darlington, both previously featured in Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing circuit. The fight, billed as ‘Chaos in the Ring’, was earlier announced on social media by Balmoral Promotions last Sunday. It will be held on Nigeria’s Independence Day and streamed live on DAZN.

The fight is the latest from a series of boxing event dubbed ‘Chaos in the Ring’, where personal rivalries, social media exchanges and entertainment have become major parts of the promotion. Balmoral Promotions has staged several editions of the Chaos in the Ring series, combining celebrity boxing attractions with professional bouts.

The promoters posted the bout on Instagram, declaring: “It’s Official! Carter VS Speed. Two African stars. One ring. No excuses. On October 1, the ring decides who stands tall. Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Live on @daznboxing. This isn’t just a fight. It is Chaos!” Efe enters the bout as one of the biggest names in the current celebrity boxing scene after defeating “Portable” in May.

Darlington versus Efe follows a challenge he issued after Efe defeated Portable. Following Efe’s victory in May, Darlington publicly mocked Portable over the result and pointed to his own previous fight against the singer. He subsequently called out Efe for a bout, presenting himself as a different challenge from Portable and expressing confidence that he could defeat the content creator.

That challenge has now become a reality, with Efe and Darlington set to settle their rivalry inside the ring. Ezekiel Adamu, CEO of Balmoral Promotions said during the conference that “Carter fought already with Portable so Carter already is the champion. He has a rematch clause. And Carter said Speed Darlington has been on his case.

“So he wants to work on Speed so we granted that and we called Speed who agreed to the fight as well. And now we have a fight.” Continuing he said, “We expect Chaos as usual, we expect fight. Carter has shown he’s a fighter the last time he fought. Speed has shown he’s a fighter the last time he fought Portable he fought well but he lost due to a technical knockout having pulled out his hand.”

Speed Darlington will be looking to revive his fortunes when he steps into the ring against Carter, following intense faceoff ahead of the highly anticipated fight. Besides, the fight is entertainment. “The last time we done ‘Chaos in The Ring’ we had MI and Reminisce walking the fighters. So it’s just pure entertainment on the night, pure chaos, and pure fight from the professional boxers.

“This is not all about the celebrity fight, this is about the pro fighters but we need major eyeballs on it, the entertainment as well on the day besides the actual fight,” Adamu explained. “And we want people that we will give us proper eyeballs. I think Carter Efe is till the number one streamer in the whole of Africa. I think he has the highest eyeball.

“We also have Speed as well who is a very controversial figure as well. So between both of them you know you are going to get millions of eyeballs that want to see it. We have a lot of beefs, even female beefs. So we just chose the best that gives us major eyeballs and we put a show and I think that’s a proper fight because both of them can’t wait. It’s just to keep pushing boxing.”
