UK Recognition: Prof Iwendi Nominated for Community Leadership Award.

Nigerian academic and technology leader, Professor Celestine Iwendi, has been nominated for the Community Leadership & Empowerment Award – Strategic Excellence at the Black History Month Recognition Evening 2026 in the United Kingdom.

The recognition, organised by the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN), celebrates individuals whose work demonstrates outstanding leadership, empowerment and community impact.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel, Manchester.

Reacting to the nomination, Iwendi described the recognition as both an honour and a renewed call to service.

According to him, “I am deeply honoured by this nomination. As a Nigerian contributing internationally in academia, technology and community development, I believe leadership must go beyond personal achievement. It should create opportunities, empower others and open doors for the next generation. I dedicate this recognition to young Nigerians and Africans who continue to demonstrate that excellence, resilience and service can earn global recognition.”

He added that the nomination further strengthens his commitment to mentoring young people, advancing innovation and creating opportunities that positively impact Nigeria, Africa and the wider global community.
