Industrial Action: Sheathe Your Sword, Exercise Restraint, NCAA Tells Unions

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has pleaded with aviation unions to sheathe their sword and exercise restraint in the ongoing industrial action which has impacted passengers and other stakeholders.

The authority noted that the matter would have been addressed at the meeting convened by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo last week, but the meeting could not hold as the airline operators failed to honour the invitation.

NCAA, in a statement on Tuesday by its Director General, Capt. Chris Najomo, stated that the appeal became necessary and will be resolved pending the return of the minister, Keyamo, who has been actively working towards resolving the issues.

Najomo assured the travelling public that flight safety remained uncompromised, adding that the authority would continue to exercise its statutory safety oversight responsibilities.

“We appeal to all parties to embrace dialogue and cooperation. We are confident that the matter will be resolved shortly and normal flight operations will resume as soon as practicable.

“The NCAA regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and appreciates their patience and understanding,” he said.
