A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has said the global support accorded to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must compel the opposition to unite with the government in tackling insecurity across the country.
Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, stated this in a statement issued to journalists in Kano on Thursday.
He said the commendation from United States President Donald Trump was clear evidence that Tinubu’s approach to security was yielding positive results and deserved bipartisan support.
“You can see that President Tinubu has earned commendation from President Trump for his fight against insecurity. This is clear evidence that Nigeria is getting it right. It calls on every patriotic Nigerian, including the opposition, to support the government,” he said.
The APC chieftain noted that despite the global recognition, the President remains focused on strengthening national defence citing Tinubu’s approval for the expansion of military formations in the country from eight to 12.
“The President’s unwavering commitment to equipping the Armed Forces to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges will further strengthen national defence capabilities,” Kwankwaso stated.
He expressed optimism that with sustained efforts by the administration, Nigerians would soon be able to travel freely across the country without fear of attack.
Kwankwaso also commended the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Ministers of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Bello Matawalle; and all Service Chiefs for their commitment to securing the nation.
“Nigerians should pray for and appreciate these gentlemen for their total commitment to securing the country and freeing it from the shackles of insecurity,” he added.
