Ojolowo Quits ADC, Backs APC’s Danladi for 2027 Kwara Governorship Race

A former House of Representatives aspirant for Ilorin South/Ilorin East Federal Constituency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Ojolowo Tunji Abdullahi, has resigned from the party and declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its 2027 governorship standard-bearer in Kwara State, Hon. Yakubu Danladi.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Abdullahi attributed his decision to the protracted internal crisis within the ADC, which he said had undermined the party’s capacity to provide effective leadership and pursue its political objectives.

He also cited Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s decision to zone the 2027 governorship ticket to Kwara North, as well as the emergence of Hon. Yakubu Danladi as the APC governorship candidate, as factors that influenced his move.

Abdullahi, who recently withdrew from the House of Representatives race following the internal challenges in the ADC, said he would dedicate his efforts to supporting Danladi’s governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Managing Director of Embassy Foundation said the organisation would deploy its network of supporters, volunteers and beneficiaries across the state to mobilise grassroots support for the APC candidate. He maintained that it was time for Kwara North to produce the state’s governor after more than three decades.

He also urged members of the G15 political group to embrace reconciliation and work closely with Governor AbdulRazaq in the interest of party unity, stressing that internal cohesion would strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.

Meanwhile, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Embassy Foundation, Mr. Ojolowo Razaq Ayo, who is based in Germany, also declared his support for Danladi’s governorship ambition.

He pledged to leverage his personal resources, international network and strategic relationships to support the APC campaign and called on Embassy Foundation supporters and beneficiaries across Kwara State to rally behind Danladi’s bid for the governorship, while also supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Abdullahi further disclosed that plans had been concluded to commence a house-to-house mobilisation campaign across the Kwara Central Senatorial District, adding that a campaign committee had already been inaugurated to coordinate grassroots activities.

He also announced that Embassy Foundation would begin a statewide humanitarian outreach programme involving the distribution of food items and relief materials to vulnerable residents across Kwara State. According to him, the initiative is intended to complement the Foundation’s humanitarian interventions while deepening grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
