NDDC Finance Director Named Peace Icons Vice Chair

Dr. Kunemofa Asu, Director of Finance and Accounts at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been appointed Vice Chairperson (Africa) of the 100 Most Notable Africans Peace Icons Award.

The appointment was announced during the 100 Most Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit held in Marrakech, Morocco, where Asu also received the 100 Most Notable Africans Peace Icons Award in recognition of her contributions to public financial management, governance and community development.

She was also presented with the Asia-Africa Award for Peace and Diplomacy in recognition of her contributions to economic development and public service.

According to the organisers, Asu’s appointment reflects her record in public finance, administrative leadership and institutional governance developed over more than two decades of public service.

As Director of Finance and Accounts at the NDDC, she has played key roles in financial management and the implementation of accountability and transparency measures within the commission.

Asu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Rivers State University and a Master of Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN), and a Fellow of the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Risk Management Institute (FECRMI).

Speaking after receiving the award and appointment, Asu expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition.

She said: “I receive this recognition and appointment with humility and a deep sense of responsibility. This honour reflects the commitment of the team I work with at the NDDC and encourages me to continue promoting transparency, accountability, peacebuilding and sustainable development across Africa.”

Project Director (Africa) of the summit, Kingsley Amafibe, said the appointment was based on Asu’s record of service and leadership in public administration.
