HR and payroll technology company, HumanManager has reiterated commitment to preparing students for workplace realities at the event of its NextGen HR Initiative designed to equip future professionals with practical digital sector skills.
Held at the Faculty of Management Sciences of the University of Lagos, the programme provided students with hands-on training using Human Manager’s HR software.
Students were also exposed to workplace technologies and digital HR processes increasingly adopted by organisations.
Themed “HR in a Digital-First World: From HR Theory to Digital Practice”, the initiative took participants through practical simulations covering digital HR workflows, automation and employee data management.
Participants also gained knowledge in niche areas like leave administration, attendance management, reporting, compliance and other tech trends reshaping workforce management.
Speaking, the firm’s Lead, Brands and Marketing, Jerry Adeyeri reiterated the company’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce, hence the programme.
“The world of work is changing rapidly, and today’s HR professionals need more than theoretical knowledge. They need to understand the digital systems that power modern organisations. Through the HumanManager NextGen HR Initiative, we are bridging the gap between what students learn in the classroom and what they will encounter in the workplace by giving them practical exposure to HR technology.
“Ultimately, this is our way of investing in society, strengthening Nigeria’s talent pipeline and helping young professionals graduate with the skills employers increasingly expect,” he said.
Adeyeri added that the firm recognises the value of investing in in-demand skills, noting that the initiative—now in its third edition, underscores the company’s consistency and serves as a key pillar of its corporate social responsibility.
In her remark, Senior Lecturer in UNILAG’s Department of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management, Dr. Mariam lauded the company for sustaining the initiative, noting its impacts on students’ practical learning.
“HumanManager has supported this practical training for several years, and it has been invaluable. Teaching Human Resource Information Systems without access to a live platform would be extremely difficult because students need practical experience, not just theory. What stands out is the consistency of the partnership. This year, the company reached out to us before we even made contact, demonstrating a genuine commitment to preparing our students for the realities of the workplace.
“Our students consistently provide positive feedback after every session, and experiences like these make their transition into the workplace much easier,” she said.
A student and beneficiary of the exercise, Ayeni Damilare commented that it guided him through the approach of modern HR practice as well as changing his perception of the profession.
Products Lead at HumanManager, Temitope Obidike informed that the organization is already evolving it HR processes to align with AI trends, stressing that upskilling talents with these skills remain key to keep them industry -fit beyond the classroom.
