Osifeso: Digital Platforms, Data Analytics Shaping Global Football Content Consumption

The Chief Executive Officer, CSRPREDICTION, Olamiji Osifeso, has said that with the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament in top gear, digital platforms and data analytics are increasingly shaping global football content consumption.

Osifeso noted that the global event is simultaneously serving as a massive showcase for how technology, digital platforms, and data analytics are fundamentally transforming the world’s most popular sport from scouting departments to television studios, with data now playing a central role in shaping modern conversations around football.

“Every single match generates an enormous amount of information, including possession statistics, passing sequences, pressing intensity, shot quality, and tactical adjustments.

“Fans are increasingly interested in the stories behind the scorelines,” Osifeso noted, highlighting a growing appetite for deeper insight.

This shift, he said, has created significant opportunities for modern analysts who are capable of translating complex on-pitch information into accessible narratives for the everyday viewer.

According to him, the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights is becoming increasingly valuable, with football being just one of many sectors experiencing this digital transformation.

He opined that for Nigeria, the rise of homegrown platforms dedicated to sports intelligence presents a major opportunity to strengthen participation within the expanding global sports content and technology ecosystem with data heavily influencing decisions both on and off the pitch.
