ESET Strengthens Cybersecurity Awareness across Lagos MDAs

ESET Nigeria has successfully concluded a cybersecurity awareness training programme for staff of the Lagos State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), reinforcing the state’s commitment to building a resilient and cyber-aware public sector workforce.
Held at the Staff Clinic Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, the training, themed: ‘Cybersecurity in 2026: Defending Against Modern Threats in a Digital Workplace’, brought together government personnel from various MDAs to gain practical insights into emerging cyber threats and modern security best practices.
The programme addressed key cybersecurity challenges expected to shape the threat landscape in 2026, including artificial intelligence-driven attacks, deepfake-enabled fraud, advanced phishing schemes, ransomware, identity theft, cloud security risks, and supply chain compromises.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Director, Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Kadri Shamusideen, emphasised the importance of cybersecurity awareness as government services continue to undergo digital transformation. He added that as government operations became increasingly digitised, cybersecurity awareness had become a critical component of public service delivery.
“While technology provides the necessary security controls, our employees remain the first line of defense against cyber threats. Continuous education and awareness are therefore essential in ensuring that staff can identify emerging threats and respond appropriately,” Shamusideen said.
