PalmPay  Celebrates Young Achievers with Scholarships

The PalmPay Young Stars initiative is celebrating young outstanding pupils across selected public primary schools in Lagos State, recognising their academic excellence and commitment to learning.

The initiative, driven by PalmPay, rewarded 60 outstanding pupils with scholarships and school kits to support their education and encourage them to continue working towards brighter opportunities ahead.

Among the beneficiaries is Nana Sani, a Primary 4 pupil of Opebi Primary School, who emerged as her school’s best-performing student and received a scholarship under the initiative. Her recognition was met with emotional gratitude from her mother, who described it as a life-changing opportunity for her daughter’s future.

During the engagement sessions at the event, the pupils also excitedly shared their aspirations, expressing dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, engineers, pilots, and entrepreneurs.

The need for initiatives like this remains significant. According to UNICEF, millions of children remain at risk of missing foundational education, making sustained encouragement and support essential.

Speaking during the official presentation ceremonies held at Adeniyi Jones Primary School and St. Peter’s Primary School, the Chief Operating Officer of PalmPay, Samuel Oluyemi, delivered a financial literacy session, urging pupils to stay focused, disciplined, and ambitious regardless of their current circumstances.

Mrs. Abaleke, one of the parents of the scholarship recipients expressed profound gratitude to PalmPay: I am happy and I can’t express the amount of joy in my heart. I’m overwhelmed by this opportunity PalmPay has given to my child. I’m grateful to PalmPay for this scholarship, may God reward their efforts with success.”

At the presentation event held at Adeniyi Jones Primary School, the Assistant Head Teacher said in his opening address: “We sincerely appreciate our sponsor (PalmPay), guests, parents, and every individual present here for your support and commitment towards empowering the next generation. To all the beneficiaries, this scholarship is not just financial support, but a motivation to strive for excellence and achieve greater success in life.”

Parents and school administrators expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its impact beyond financial support in motivating pupils and strengthening commitment to learning.

By celebrating academic excellence, encouraging ambition, and providing practical support, the programme is not only helping pupils stay in school but also inspiring them to dream bigger and work towards those dreams with confidence.
