30th Anniversary: STL Trustees Channels N6m to Special Needs Homes

STL Trustees has reinforced its commitment to inclusive social impact with the disbursement of N6 million to 30 special needs homes as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary.

Under the initiative, each beneficiary home received N200,000, reflecting the firm’s deliberate focus on supporting vulnerable communities and advancing inclusion through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Speaking on the intervention, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo, said the decision to focus on special needs homes was inspired by the firm’s longstanding commitment to inclusion through the STL Special Needs Trust, a product designed to help families make long-term financial and care arrangements for children with special needs.

“Our decision to focus on special needs homes reflects our belief that corporate success should translate into meaningful support for vulnerable communities. Through this initiative, we hope to address immediate needs within these institutions, improve the welfare of beneficiaries, and contribute positively to their care environment,” she said.

Ekundayo added that beyond the financial support, the initiative is also intended to raise awareness about the needs of persons living with disabilities and encourage broader stakeholder participation in inclusive development efforts.

At the cheque presentation to the Patrick Speech and Languages Centre in Lagos, the Head of School, Funmilayo Enikanselu, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the support would directly impact the children in the institution’s care.

“We sincerely appreciate STL Trustees for this thoughtful intervention. The fund will be deployed towards supporting the development and overall well-being of the children in our care,” she said.

Reflecting on STL Trustees’ broader CSR footprint over the past three decades, Ekundayo highlighted interventions spanning women empowerment, healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and community development. These include skill acquisition programmes in partnership with the Lagos State Poverty Alleviation Agency, the beautification of Muri Okunola Park, breast cancer screening initiatives with the Care Organisation Public Enlightenment (COPE), back-to-school interventions with the Street to School Initiative, and environmental sanitation campaigns carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Government.

“These initiatives reflect our commitment to creating meaningful social impact beyond our core business and contributing to the wellbeing of the communities we serve,” she said.

Looking ahead, Ekundayo assured stakeholders that STL Trustees would continue to deepen its CSR engagements through more strategic, measurable, and sustainable interventions focused on inclusion, community development, and long-term value creation.
