Real Betis Rumored to Acquire Super Eagles Midfielder Uche
Copa del Rey winners Real Betis are reportedly weighing a move for Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche. Uche has had a challenging year at Crystal Palace after joining the Eagles on loan from Getafe until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder was one of the best-rated players in La Liga during his stint with Getafe, scoring four goals and six assists in 33 appearances. However, this stellar play has not translated at the Palace. The Super Eagles ace has scored two goals and provided one assist in 22 matches for the Eagles. The former AD Ceuta man has mostly come on as a substitute and seems not to have a place in manager Oliver Glasner’s plans.
It has already been confirmed by Bettingtop10 NG that Uche will head back to Getafe next season, as both sides failed to agree on personal terms for a permanent deal. However, that is not to say his future there is secured. Getafe have spent most of their budget this season due to La Liga’s tight financial regulations.
Unless they sell one of their star players, bringing back Uche will pile even more financial pressure on the club. However, the drumbeat keeps getting louder about Real Betis planning to enter the Uche sweepstakes with a reported €15 million offer for Uche’s services.
The handsome offer should be enough for Los Azulones to consider selling because they will need the money. Meanwhile, it makes sense for Betis, as they’ll be signing a player who already knows the league.
If the deal ultimately goes through, it will give Uche a fresh start to regain his form with a team that wants to build with him. Uche can play multiple positions, including striker and various midfield roles. They may be underdogs to win La Liga, but with a player like Uche, they can challenge for their first trophy since winning the Copa del Rey in 2022.
