ADC Extends Screening, Primary Timetable

• PDP extends date for form submission 

•Maku, Abbo, Adamu, others pick LP forms

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has extended the dates for the submission of nomination forms, screening of candidates and primary election activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

At the same time, the Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the extension of dates for submission of all nomination forms by aspirants.

This was as a former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; Senator Ishaku Abbo, Emmanuel Ben, Adamu Bako Blanzou, and Jesse James Ayenajeh, among other prominent Nigerians, have picked up the Labour Party expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for various positions.

However, the national spokesman of the AFDC, Bolaji Abdullahi, who revealed this in a statement, yesterday, said changes were made in response to aspirants’ requests and logistical considerations.

“Adjustments have been made to the primary elections timetable in response to aspirant requests and logistical considerations. Affected items are indicated accordingly. All other previously published dates remain unchanged,” he said.

He added that the submission of nomination forms previously scheduled for May 13, 2026, has been postponed to May 14, 2026.

According to him, the screening of aspirants previously scheduled for May 14–15, 2026, will now be held from May 16 to May 17, 2026.

The party equally noted that the publication of screening results has been scheduled for May 17, 2026, while appeals against screening decisions will run from May 18 to May 19, 2026.

It announced further that the publication of cleared candidates will be done on May 20, 2026.

The party also announced that the post-primary election appeals for legislative elections will be held on May 22, 2026, governorship election appeals on May 23, 2026, and presidential election appeals on May 26, 2026.

According to the new timetable, screening of presidential and governorship aspirants will be conducted in Abuja, while screening of legislative aspirants will take place in their respective states.

The ADC further clarified payments for women and persons with disabilities, stating that the 25% concession is still applicable, noting that candidates who fell into the categories and had paid in excess would be refunded accordingly.

“Aspirants who may have submitted amounts in excess of this rate are advised that refunds will be processed and communicated in due course,” the statement added.

PDP Extends Date for Forms Submission

The Interim National Working Committee of the PDP has announced the extension of dates for submission of all nomination forms by aspirants.

In a statement jointly signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade ini Ememobong, and the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan, the party said the extension was in response to request by various aspirants and stakeholders.

‘’In response to the appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across the country, the Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, has amended the earlier published timetable for activities culminating in the nomination of candidates activities as follows:

‘’End of Purchase of forms – 15th May, 2026. Last date for the submission of completed forms – 18th May, 2026. Screening of Aspirants – 19th May, 2026.

‘’Aspirants for National and State Assemblies will be screened at their respective states, while Gubernatorial and Presidential Aspirants will be screened in Abuja. Other activities will remain as previously announced,’’ the statement stated.

Maku, Abbo, Adamu, Others Pick LP Forms

A former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; Senator Ishaku Abbo, Emmanuel Ben, Adamu Bako Blanzou, and Jesse James Ayenajeh, were among the prominent Nigerians, who picked the Labour Party (LP), expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for various positions on the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

Maku picked the form for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District; Senator Abbo picked for the governorship of Adamawa State; Emmanuel Ben picked for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State; Adamu Bako Blanzoum is going to the House of Representatives for Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency; while Hon. Jesse James Ayenajeh is also in for the House of Representatives for Toto Federal Constituency, Nasarawa State.

They were among the aspirants from different parts of the country, cutting across the Northern and Southern regions, who stormed the secretariat to obtain nomination forms for various elective positions.

Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving his nomination forms, Labaran Maku expressed strong confidence in the Labour Party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.

“The Labour Party has won the confidence and support of Nigerians, and I am convinced that the party will emerge victorious in the next general elections, from the presidency to the governorship elections,” he said,

According to him, the party “has firmly established itself as a household name in many states, particularly in Nasarawa State and across my senatorial district, where the people remain determined to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming senatorial and other elections in the state.”

Similarly, Abbo commended the growing momentum of the Labour Party and praised the National Chairman of the party, Nenadi Usman, for providing the leadership that has revitalised and repositioned the party.

He also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections across Adamawa State and the wider North-East region.
