Ijebu Boys Association Unveils 10Th Year Anniversary Programme of Impactful Community Initiatives
In a continued demonstration of its unwavering commitment to community development and social impact, the Ijebu Boys Association (IJBOYS) has announced a series of landmark activities scheduled for May 2026, marking a significant milestone in its journey of service to Ijebu Land.
At the heart of this year’s programme is the IJ Boys Medical Outreach, a two-day free healthcare initiative set to hold on May 22nd and 23rd, 2026, at the De-Millennium Hall (Itoro Hall), Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretariat. The outreach, which has grown steadily in scale and impact over the years, is expected to provide essential medical services to hundreds of residents across Ijebu communities.
From humble beginnings in 2016, the Association has evolved into a dynamic network of professionals and entrepreneurs across Nigeria and the diaspora, united by a shared vision: the sustainable development of Ijebu Land. What began as a response to personal loss has since blossomed into a structured platform for intervention, touching thousands of lives through healthcare, welfare support, education outreach, and community-driven programmes.
Over the past nine years, IJBOYS has delivered consistent, measurable impact. Its medical outreaches alone have reached over 9,000 beneficiaries, alongside notable interventions such as COVID-19 palliative support for over 3,000 households and the donation of essential drugs to public health institutions. These efforts reflect not just generosity, but a deliberate, long-term approach to community advancement.
The association, during its 5-Day Economic Convention last year, launched the Education Empowerment & Literacy Outreach Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting learning, literacy, and academic excellence among secondary school students across the Ijebu Provincial Council in Ogun State.
As part of the initiative, the association partnered with Alare FM to organise a debate competition in the local Ijebu dialect among secondary schools across Ijebuland, with the objective of preserving indigenous language and cultural heritage while encouraging intellectual development among young people.
Building on the success of the maiden edition, the 2nd edition of the debate competition is scheduled to hold on Monday, May 25, 2025.
Speaking on the 2026 initiatives, the president of the Association, Barrister Olukayode Okenla noted:
“Our work is guided by a deep sense of responsibility to our roots. Each project is designed not only to meet immediate needs but to contribute to a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Ijebu society.”
Complementing the medical outreach is the Association’s 10th Anniversary Dinner, scheduled for Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at the IJBOYS Secretariat, GRA, Ijebu-Ode. The event will serve as both a celebration of a decade of impact and a moment of reflection on the journey so far, bringing together members, partners, and stakeholders who have contributed to the Association’s growth.
Guided by its core values of excellence, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and accountability, IJBOYS continues to position itself as a forward-thinking organisation with a clear roadmap for the future. Its 10-year development plan (2023–2033) outlines ambitious targets, including reaching 100,000 beneficiaries, expanding healthcare access through mobile initiatives, and strengthening economic empowerment programmes across Ijebu Land.
As preparations intensify for the 2026 activities, the Association calls on individuals, corporate organisations, and well-meaning stakeholders to support its mission through partnerships and donations.
