Omotola’s ‘Mother’s Love’ Crosses ₦100m Milestone, Makes History

…Donates 100% of her proceeds to Slum2School Africa

Celebrating her 30th anniversary as a global Nollywood icon, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has achieved a historic milestone in cinema and philanthropy with her directorial debut, ‘Mother’s Love’.

The acclaimed family drama has officially crossed the ₦100 million mark at the West African box office.
In an unprecedented act of generosity from the Nigerian film industry, Omotola has, therefore, donated 100 percent of her company’s (Redhot Concepts) share of the film’s cinema proceeds to Slum2School Africa to advance educational access for children in need.

As confirmed by the film’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, “‘Mother’s Love’ has grossed a remarkable ₦100.8 million, demonstrating widespread appeal across the region, including Nigeria and Ghana. Before making its cinematic debut in Nigeria, ‘Mother’s Love’ garnered international attention with screenings at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2025 as part of the Industry Market programme, as well as the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF).”

According to the producers, the film continues to perform strongly and remains in cinemas nationwide.
“This landmark initiative, blending high-quality entertainment with impactful giving, has resonated deeply with audiences. The decision to partner with Slum2School Africa is intrinsically tied to the production of the film itself. Much of the story, which highlights the resilience of communities and the transformative power of education, was brought to life in Slum2School’s classrooms and innovation hub, with the organization’s students, staff, volunteers, and members of the Makoko community at its heart,” she stated.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, founder of Redhot Concepts and the film’s director and producer, said: “We are overwhelmed by the love and support shown by West African audiences for Mother’s Love, said”My vision for this project was to not only tell a powerful story but also to create a tangible force for good. Filming in Makoko and seeing the incredible work Slum2School does firsthand changed me. Reaching this box office milestone allows us to channel this incredible success directly back into the community that gave so much to this film. This isn’t just a movie’s success; it’s a movement of compassionate storytelling and giving.

“Mother’s Love’ is a gripping family drama exploring the complexities of mother-daughter dynamics, classism, and the strength of family ties. The film features a stellar cast led by Jalade-Ekeinde, alongside other leading Nollywood talents, including Noray Nehita, Olumide Oworu, Ifeanyi Kalu, Lilian Afegbai, and Nosa Rex (Baba Rex).”
