Planet Talk Expands Services  to Migrants in Ireland, United States

Planet Talk, a technology-driven platform dedicated to supporting migrant communities, has announced the availability of its services in Ireland and the United States, marking a significant milestone in its global growth journey.

The move, according to a statement by the organisation, reinforces its commitment to making cross-border communication and family support more seamless and accessible. The expansion follows successful launches in France and Canada.

The organisation noted that in just one year, Planet Talk has grown from being a UK-only app to a multi-market platform, a rapid trajectory that underscores rising demand for its services among migrant communities.

Founded over two decades ago in the UK, Planet Talk has evolved from a low-cost international calling service into a comprehensive digital platform.

The Managing Director, Mr. Tope Ayedun, in the statement said: “Today, its app enables users to make affordable international calls, send airtime and data, and pay utility bills for family and friends across more than 150 countries, all within a single, easy-to-use platform.

“This expansion comes at a time when remittance behaviour across Africa is evolving rapidly. In Nigeria, families increasingly demand more purposeful support beyond cash, including bill payments and essential services, while across West and East Africa, there is a growing shift towards mobile-first platforms that integrate communication, payments, and everyday support. Planet Talk’s multi-functional offering is well aligned with these trends, positioning the company to meet changing needs with relevance and scale.”

Commenting on the expansion, he said: “Our journey has always been about more than transactions; it is about enabling care and connection across borders. Our availability in Ireland and the United States is a natural progression in our mission to support migrants in meeting the everyday needs of their families back home with ease and reliability.”

Ayedun stated that the platform extends beyond traditional remittances by offering practical support such as bill payments and digital vouchers, ensuring that funds sent from abroad translate directly into meaningful impact at home. This approach continues to resonate strongly with users who value convenience, transparency, and affordability.

He added: “We are encouraged by the pace of our expansion and the trust our users place in us. Our priority remains to continuously improve the platform and extend our reach, ensuring that wherever our customers are, they can support their families with confidence and convenience.”

Planet Talk’s services, he said, are now available to migrant communities in the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Ireland, and the United States. The company remains focused on expanding its reach and enhancing its platform as it continues to empower migrants to support their loved ones with greater ease, dignity, and impact.
