Foundation Empowers Over 20 with Vocational Skills, Business Starter Packs

Not-for-profit organisation, the Erommaose Nwokoro Foundation, has empowered over 20 young Nigerians of Ika origin with vocational skills and business starter packs for its 2026 empowerment cohort, THISDAY has learnt.

The closing ceremony of the skills acquisition programme which held in Agbor, Delta state, was a celebration of the resilience of participants even as the foundation hosted them to a mentorship sessions with the goal of building their entrepreneurial capacity while ensuring sustainability of their various enterprises.

According to the founder of the organisation, Amb. Bernardette Eromma Nwokoro, the scheme, which is now in its third year, is curated to drive social impact among young people of Ika origin.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, she said: “Through this programme, we hope to build futures, restore dignity, and ignite possibilities. We are not just giving aid; we are giving people a chance to stand on their own.”

Some of the skills acquired by participants include: personal grooming, interior decoration, gele styling, baking, hair styling, and dressmaking with beneficiaries receiving starter packs and seed capital to begin their entrepreneurial journeys.

Through strategic collaboration with the Ika community, the Erommaose Nwokoro Foundation, is shinning the light of hope on the path of young people, one skill and one success story at a time.

Among participants at the event were Chief Wilson Oni Agbobu, The Eka Dein Menim of Agbor Kingdom and development advocate; Dr Anthony Nnamudi; Hon.Donald .O. Peterson PhD; Jude Igborgbor PhD; Ngozi Mordi PhD, Solomon Egbule PhD; and Friday Memeh PhD with Hon. Donald Peterson, chairing the event.

Nwokoro also thanked the NBC, producers of Coca Cola, and New Age, the producers of phone chargers & power banks, for believing in the vision and partnering with the foundation as sponsors.
