The Plateau State Government has announced a relaxation of the 48‑hour curfew earlier imposed on Jos North following last week’s violent attack on residents of Angwan Rukuba.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, said the decision was taken after security agencies reported a “relative calm” in the affected community.
Effective 1 April 2026, movement will now be permitted between 7am and 3pm, allowing residents to resume essential activities within the approved hours.
The government urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law‑abiding as security personnel continue to monitor developments to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Ramnap commended the resilience and cooperation of residents throughout the period of heightened restrictions, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The curfew was imposed after a violent incident in Angwan Rukuba that heightened tensions in the area, prompting swift intervention by security operatives and the state government.
