Navy, UBA Strengthen Strategic Partnership on Maritime Security, National Development

To strengthen existing ties between the Nigerian Navy and the bank, as well as boost maritime security and national development, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command (WNC), Rear Admiral A.A. Mustapha, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr Tony O. Elumelu.
During the visit, the FOC conveyed the goodwill of the Chief of the Naval Staff and formally introduced himself as the 46th Flag Officer Commanding WNC.
He commended Mr Elumelu for his outstanding contributions to economic development across Africa, particularly through entrepreneurship empowerment initiatives that have impacted thousands of young Africans.
Rear Admiral Mustapha reiterated the Command’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s western maritime domain through enhanced surveillance, technology and intelligence sharing.
He also extended an invitation to Mr Elumelu to attend the Nigerian Navy’s forthcoming 70th Anniversary and International Fleet Review.
In his response, Mr Elumelu, a renowned banking leader and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated the FOC on his appointment.
He reaffirmed his continued support for the Nigerian Navy’s efforts in promoting maritime security and national development.
