EV World Africa Delivers Electric School Bus Fleet to Abba’s Heart Montessori School in Lagos

In a landmark move for sustainable education in Nigeria, EV World Africa has successfully delivered an electric fleet to Abba’s Heart Montessori School — marking one of the first major school fleet electrification projects in the country.

LAGOS, NIGERIA — EV World Africa, the continent’s leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) solutions and sustainable transportation infrastructure, has announced the successful delivery of the first phase of it’s fleet transition project for Abba’s Heart Montessori School in Lagos, Nigeria. The milestone project, now documented in a newly released video, demonstrates the practical and economic viability of electric transportation for schools and educational institutions across the country.

The project involved a comprehensive assessment of the school’s transportation needs, procurement of suitable electric vehicles, and the deployment of supporting charging infrastructure — all delivered by the EV World Africa team as part of its end-to-end fleet electrification service. The initial electric vehicles are now operational and in daily use by the school, transporting students safely, quietly, and without the emissions associated with conventional petrol or diesel-powered vehicles.

The company and the school share an aspiration to achieve full electrification of the school’s entire transportation fleet by the end of 2026. As a major step toward this, EV World Africa is committed to fully electrifying Abba’s Heart school bus fleet by the 3rd quarter of this year.

“This is not a vision for the future — this is the future, happening today, right here in Lagos. Abba’s Heart Montessori School has shown that any institution, of any size, can lead the clean energy transition.”
— Temidayo Alabi, Media & Comms Manager, EV World Africa

Speaking on the significance of the project, Temidayo Alabi, Media & Comms Manager of EV World Africa, noted that the completion of the first phase of Abba’s Heart Montessori fleet electrification is a watershed moment for sustainable transportation in Nigeria. “Schools are the heart of our communities,” Temidayo said. “When a school chooses to go electric, it sends a powerful message to parents, students, and the wider public — that clean mobility is not just possible, it is responsible. We are honoured to have supported Abba’s Heart Montessori School on this journey.”

The electrification of school fleets carries wide-ranging benefits. Beyond the immediate reduction in carbon emissions and air pollution — a pressing concern in densely populated urban environments such as Lagos — schools that adopt EVs stand to benefit from significantly lower fuel and maintenance costs over the lifetime of their fleet. Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than internal combustion engine vehicles, resulting in reduced servicing requirements and long-term operational savings.

Founded with a mission to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility across Africa, EV World Africa has spent over a decade delivering consulting, fleet electrification, and charging infrastructure services to businesses, institutions, and individuals. With a portfolio of projects successfully executed in Nigeria, the company offers a full range of services including feasibility studies, technical due diligence, EV procurement, and the planning, supply, and installation of both AC and DC fast-charging stations.

The Abba’s Heart Montessori project comes at a time of growing momentum for electric vehicles across the African continent. Governments, institutions, and private sector operators are increasingly recognising that the transition to clean transportation is not merely an environmental imperative but an economic opportunity. Nigeria, with its growing urban population and rising fuel costs, stands to benefit enormously from the widespread adoption of electric mobility solutions.

A video documenting the initial electric fleet at Abba’s Heart Montessori School is now available for public viewing. The footage showcases the completed vehicles, the charging infrastructure, and the school’s commitment to a greener future. The video can be viewed at EV World Africa’s Youtube page.
