Art Exhibition Opens National Museum Lagos
An art exhibition titled: My Environment,’ showcasing the works of Nigerian artist Julius Olabayo, will open at the National Museum in Lagos on March 14, 2026, offering visitors a reflective exploration of how surroundings influence human identity and perception.
In a statement, it was noted that the exhibition is curated under the Olabayo Julius Gallery, the exhibition examines the complex relationship between individuals and the environments that shape their lives.
The statement also noted that through a series of expressive paintings, Olabayo explores themes of culture, community, identity, and everyday lived experiences.
According to the artist, the exhibition draws inspiration from the powerful influence that environment has on personal development and creativity.
“We are all products of our environment. It influences how we think, how we see the world, and how we relate to one another. The works in My Environment are shaped by these everyday influences. Every stroke, every brush movement, and every splash of paint reflects the spaces, experiences, and surroundings that continue to shape my creative journey,” Olabayo.
The collection invites viewers to reflect on the environments they inhabit and the subtle ways those spaces shape both personal and collective identity.
The exhibition will run for seven days and is open to art collectors, enthusiasts, and members of the public interested in contemporary artistic expression.
