2027: Group Urges Political Parties to Zone Governorship Ticket to Ogbomoso

Ahead of the 2027 general election, a political pressure group, The Ogbomoso Project (TOP) has called on all political parties to zone their party governorship tickets to the Ogbomoso Zone.

The zone, according to the group, comprises five local government areas.

The Convener, Mr. Olusegun Oyeniyi in a statement issued Wednesday said the aim of the group is to mobilise all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to unite behind the project for the actualisation of the Oyo State Governorship position for the Zone.

He noted that the group also seeks to rally all political parties to zone their gubernatorial tickets to the zone.

Oyeniyi added that the group seeks to bring together individuals from Ogbomoso, regardless of their political affiliations, to work towards achieving the common goal of securing the governorship seat for the zone.

He added: “The time is now for Ogbomoso to take the reins of Oyo State. We have waited patiently, and it is time for our turn and we shall move round for supports both in and outside Ogbomoso, to engage with various stakeholders to drive this agenda and ensure our interests to be the next governor of the state is well-presented in the state’s political landscape,” Prince Oyeniyi declared.

“The move is seen by many as a response to the long-standing demand for equitable representation and development in Oyo State, with Ogbomoso being a significant contributor to the state’s economy, socio-cultural image and politics.”

The group stressed that the process has begun and it would soon commence engagement with various stakeholders, including community leaders, politicians, and the general public for the project.
