How Aba Dope Grew from 15k to 1.1m Followers on TikTok

Bannerman-Martin Lorretta, affectionately known as Aba Dope, a renowned Ghanaian personality, was named ‘Best Entrepreneur of the year’ at Pulse Ghana Awards and ‘Best Catering Service of the year’ at the Women Choice Awards.

As a TikTok influencer, restaurant owner, professional nurse, and TV host, Aba has carved a niche in multiple fields.

She began her nursing studies in Ghana’s Central Region, advancing her education in China, where she earned a degree. Upon returning, she practised at Trust Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Beyond nursing, Aba has excelled in media, hosting shows on Joy Prime and Onua TV’s Girls Kasa and Onua Concert Party.

Her vibrant TikTok presence has further amplified her influence, garnering a devoted audience for her engaging content from 15k followers to 1.1 million followers. Adding entrepreneur to her resume, she runs a successful restaurant, blending her love for food with business acumen.

“When I was in SHS, I played a number of roles. I was the Scripture Union’s (SIJ) prayer secretary. I could pray for someone to fall out of bed, and it was fatal.

“In nursing school, I loved to sing, so while we walked to the dormitory, I told some jokes that made my colleagues laugh. I was also known as ‘DJ Coco’ since I was typically at the DJ’s side when it came to entertainment, deciding which songs to play. After that, I would gather students in the evening and we would all pray on the same day.

“Everyone admired me since I represented a diverse spectrum of life experiences. When I travelled to Accra, I discovered TikTok, although I was already on Snapchat, speaking about other issues. When I realized I had been detected, I switched to TikTok.

“People complemented me when I shared a snapshot of my physique. When a classmate questioned why I bleached my hair, I called her out on TikTok live, which gained popularity among bloggers,” she revealed.

Aba’s journey from modest beginnings to multifaceted success is a testament to her resilience, ambition, and determination. She continues to inspire many, particularly young women, by proving that diverse talents and hard work can lead to exceptional achievements.
