Lagos Makeup Artist Tesglam Secures Guinness Plaque After 146-Hour Marathon

Landmark Boulevard, Lagos, was abuzz last week as Nigerian makeup artist and entrepreneur Theresa Emegwara known as Tesglam received her Guinness World Records plaque for completing the longest continuous makeup session by an individual, a staggering 146 hours of non-stop creativity.

The marathon, which took place at the popular Landmark Boulevard, saw Tesglam transform over 200 faces over six days, drawing crowds of spectators, models, and fellow creatives. The venue played a key role in supporting the event, providing space and resources that made the record attempt possible.
“Landmark Boulevard was incredible,” Tesglam said. “They gave us the space, the tools, and the encouragement we needed. Without their support, this wouldn’t have been possible.”

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, who visited during the marathon, praised the artist for putting Lagos on the global creative map:

“She has not only represented Lagos with pride but has also inspired young creatives to pursue excellence on a global stage,” the Commissioner said.

For Tesglam, the record is as much about community as it is about personal achievement.
“I didn’t do this alone. From the team at Landmark to the volunteers, the models, and everyone cheering online, this record belongs to all of us,” she said.

Models who took part in the marathon described the experience as both inspiring and humbling. Ifeoma Adeyemi, one of the participants, said:

“Watching Tesglam work day and night, maintaining focus and precision, was extraordinary. It showed all of us what dedication looks like.”

Chinedu Okafor, another participant, added:
“It was more than just a record attempt. It was a shared experience, the energy in the room, the encouragement from people online, it felt like we were part of history.”

The official plaque presentation marked the conclusion of Guinness verification and celebrated the success of a Lagos-born creative making an impact on the world stage. Tesglam reflected on the moment:

“Seeing the plaque in my hands made everything real. It’s proof that persistence, creativity, and community support can take you anywhere, even to a global record.”

Tesglam, whose portfolio spans fashion, editorial, and commercial campaigns, says her next steps involve mentorship and community initiatives aimed at fostering young talent.

“I want to create spaces for learning and collaboration so more Nigerian creatives can reach global platforms,” she said.

With this achievement, Tesglam not only cements her place in the Guinness World Records but also highlights Lagos as a hub for creativity and innovation, reminding Nigerians that extraordinary feats can begin at home with the right mix of talent, focus, and support.
