Aletheia: Badtmansix’s Debut Album Signals Artistic Growth and Direction
By Emmanuel Daraloye
Aletheia is a Greek term commonly translated as truth, but more precisely understood as unconcealment — the act of bringing what is hidden into the open. That idea sits at the core of Aletheia, the full-length album by Moses Enigbokan, professionally known as Badtmansix — a Lagos-born, UK-based singer, songwriter, producer, and mixing engineer. Released on 28 December 2025 under Six Records, the project approaches Afrobeats and Afro-fusion not as vehicles for spectacle, but as tools for reflection, faith, and personal growth, framing truth as a process rather than a declaration.
Rooted in Afrobeats while drawing from broader Afro-fusion sensibilities, Aletheia prioritises clarity over excess. The album’s production is clean yet textured, balancing traditional rhythmic foundations with modern fusion elements introduced sparingly and with intent. Rather than crowding the mix, Badtmansix leans into space, allowing rhythm, melody, and lyrical content to coexist without competition. This approach gives the project a calm, meditative quality that aligns with its introspective tone.
Across the album, Badtmansix demonstrates a consistent commitment to emotional and thematic coherence. “Attitude” anchors the project lyrically, foregrounding honesty and self-examination without resorting to bravado. “Loke Loke” carries notable emotional weight, pairing measured delivery with refined production choices that heighten its reflective impact. In contrast, “Tewo,” featuring Rhookcastle, introduces a street-hop energy that prioritises movement and danceability. Its rhythmic drive and accompanying visual offer a moment of outward expression while remaining sonically aligned with the album’s core identity. “Contact” balances melody, rhythmic bounce, and message, reinforcing Badtmansix’s ability to merge accessibility with intention.
From a technical perspective, Aletheia reflects the sensibilities of an artist with a background in production and mixing. The album is minimalist in approach yet layered in execution, favouring balance and control over density. Percussion grounds the project firmly within Afrobeats traditions, while melodic elements are deployed with restraint, often serving emotional function rather than decorative flourish. This disciplined approach allows the album to sustain cohesion across its runtime, reinforcing its long-form integrity.
Collaborations are used with clear purpose. Contributions from Rhookcastle, Shizzo Dayzed, 9tro and Rasta add lyrical weight, rhythmic depth, and melodic contrast without disrupting authorship. Each feature feels integrated rather than ornamental, expanding the album’s expressive range while preserving its central vision.
Thematically, Aletheia navigates truth, growth, self-reflection, faith, perseverance, and gratitude — themes that resonate within contemporary Afrobeats while avoiding sentimentality. Its hybrid structure, moving between reflective moments and subtle narrative progression, reinforces a sense of personal and artistic evolution.
Ultimately, Aletheia positions Badtmansix as an artist defined by maturity, values, and long-term direction. Rather than chasing immediacy or trend alignment, the album reflects a commitment to substance, technical control, and sustainable artistic identity. It stands as a considered contribution to the evolving Afro-fusion landscape, signalling a UK-based creative voice with both cultural grounding and international relevance.
