Macjob Grammar School to Mark 80th Founders’ Day with Week-Long Activities

Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, has announced a week-long programme of events to commemorate its 80th Founders’ Day Anniversary, scheduled to take place from Monday, January 12, to Sunday, January 18, 2026.
According to a notice jointly issued by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, High Chief Gabriel Somoye, and the President, Abiodun Babajide, the anniversary celebration will bring together old students, stakeholders, friends of the school and members of the public to reflect on eight decades of academic excellence and institutional growth.
“The activities will begin on Monday, January 12, with a courtesy visit to royal fathers at 10:00 am. On Tuesday, January 13, the school community will undertake a visit to an orphanage at 8:00 am, followed by an inter-school quiz competition at 10:00 am involving selected secondary schools across Ogun State.
“Wednesday, January 14, is slated for the inter-house sports competition starting at 9:00 am, while Thursday, January 15, will feature a medical outreach and project commissioning by 10:00 am.
“On Friday, January 16, activities will include the groundbreaking of new projects at 10:00 am, a Jumaat service at the Onikolobo Central Mosque by 2:00 pm, and a road show and carnival at 4:00 pm.
“The celebration will continue on Saturday, January 17, with the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 9:00 am, and followed by the grand finale at noon. The anniversary programme will be rounded off on Sunday, January 18, with a church thanksgiving service at TREM Onikolobo at 9:00 am.”
The statement further revealed the anniversary is designed to promote academic excellence, sportsmanship and the sustainable development of the institution.
It urged old students of the school to participate actively and support efforts aimed at sustaining the legacy of Macjob Grammar School, which was founded on the motto ‘Labour Omnia Vincit’; ‘Work Conquers All’.
