Abuja Fraud-Fighters Push Integrity Drive at AGM, Dinner
Folalumi Alaran in Abuja
The Abuja Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) held its Annual General Meeting and Dinner on Wednesday in Abuja’s Central Business District, using the occasion to sharpen Nigeria’s anti-fraud agenda and honour professionals driving integrity across the country.
The gathering, hosted at the Ministry of Finance by Chapter Chairman Mrs Petu Joyce Aina, opened with a review of the group’s activities, including a structured agenda that blended policy reflection with professional training. Two technical papers anchored the session: Dr Stacy Nwodo explored chain-of-custody standards and evidence integrity-an area increasingly tested by complex digital fraud-while Dr Obayi Titus dissected corporate fraud trends and the rising demand for cross-border investigative collaborations.
Pioneer Chairman and Chief Executive, Chief Dr Isa Salifu Egah, delivered one of the day’s most personal moments, describing the chapter as “home” and emphasising the need for relentless advocacy. He revisited highlights from International Fraud Week-media briefings, road walks and webinars-stressing that public enlightenment must remain a strategic priority for Nigeria to stem emerging financial crimes.
Members received the financial report before moving into an interactive session that interrogated regulatory gaps, institutional capacity, and the need for shared investigative standards across government and private entities.
The Annual Dinner that followed transitioned the sober tone into a celebratory atmosphere. The Chief Executive’s address reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to strengthening national accountability frameworks, after which awards and certificates were presented to several distinguished members, including Dr Stacy Nwodo. Executive committee members were also recognised for service, drawing applause from colleagues and guests.
A toast to CIFCFIN Abuja Chapter set the stage for a buffet reception, followed by music, dancing, and professional networking-closing a day that blended introspection, training, and recognition under one integrity-driven banner.
In attendance were Chief Dr. Obayi Titus, Dr. Ticky Igho Blessing, Jubril Muhammudu, Dr Ogbeide Eki Benjamin, Elisha Andrew Shava and many others.
