NYCN Europe appoints Adebisi Adebayo as Youth Ambassador in Switzerland

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Europe Chapter, has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Adebisi Adebayo as the Youth Ambassador for Switzerland. The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the council’s Governor, Ambassador Collins Idahosa.

Idahosa said Adebayo will play a vital role in promoting Nigerian interests and fostering connections among all Nigerian youths in Switzerland, adding that her exceptional leadership skills and dedication to youth development would help strengthen youth networking, cooperation, and development among Nigerians in Switzerland.

He said, “Adebayo has over a decade of experience in academia, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). She is the founder and president of Bridging Development Gaps (BDG), an international NGO working to bridge gaps of inequities across Africa.”

He also informed that Adebayo is the Chef de Cabinet at the Liaison Office of the Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting the Health of Women and Girls. Her over two decades of experience span across gender, women, youth, and sustainable development with different UN agencies.

“She is very passionate about improving the lives of people in Africa, especially Nigeria. She has carried out a lot of research and written extensively on the root causes of the status of women as well as on different socio-economic issues,” he said.

Adebayo expressed her gratitude to Idahosa and the NYCN for the opportunity. She outlined her vision for creating a platform that would foster collaboration, innovation, and empowerment among young Nigerians. She also pledged to amplify the voices of young Nigerians, advocating policies and initiatives that would address the unique challenges they face.

She urged Nigerian youths to remain committed to their dreams, strive for excellence, and never give up on their aspirations. She said her appointment is not just a recognition of her efforts but a testament to the boundless potential that lies within each and every young Nigerian.

Adebayo said she would ensure the voices of young Nigerians in Switzerland are heard and that they are equipped with the resources and support needed to thrive.

The NYCN Europe Chapter has demonstrated its commitment to empowering young leaders, and Adebayo’s appointment is a shining example of this effort.
