UK indie publisher Rayany Publishing is set to release Purple Lines Don’t Meet, the much-anticipated debut novel by Nigerian author Blessing S. John-Abhulimen, this October 2025.
Originally published in Lagos by acclaimed Nigerian press Naphtali Books, the novel was quickly acquired by Rayany Publishing for international distribution. The UK edition marks a major milestone for the author and will be available in select bookstores and online platforms.
A haunting family saga based on a true life story, Purple Lines Don’t Meet follows Tessy Obienu, whose life unravels after a midnight argument between her parents leads to a devastating revelation: the man she’s always called father is not her biological parent. Cast adrift in the home she once knew, Tessy sets out to find her real father—a journey that takes her to the UK and forces her to confront the possibility that the closer she gets to the truth, the more she risks losing herself.
“This is a story I’ve carried in my heart for years,” John-Abhulimen shared. “Words can’t express how thrilled I am to see Purple Lines Don’t Meet reaching a wider audience.”
Olivia Uchechukwu, CEO and Publishing Director at Rayany Publishing, praised the team’s dedication: “Everyone involved worked tirelessly to bring this powerful piece of literature to UK readers. I’m proud we saw it through.”
Rayany Publishing continues to champion bold, authentic African storytelling, spotlighting emerging voices across the continent. With Purple Lines Don’t Meet, Blessing S. John-Abhulimen joins a growing catalogue of authors reshaping the global literary landscape.
